Olympic Museum
The official Olympic Museum was opened on February 8, 1984, the opening day of the XIV Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. It is located in a magnificent fin-de-siècle villa with a beautiful view of the city. The museum was shelled and destroyed in April 1992, at the start of the Siege of Sarajevo but has been restored and reopened in 2020. We stop here to explore the positive achievements of the Sarajevo Winter Olympics through sports and art.

Koševo Olympic Stadium & Zetra Olympic Hall
One of the centerpieces of the Sarajevo Winter Olympics was the massive Koševo Stadium, which hosted as many as 45,000 spectators for Watch the Opening Ceremony on February 7, 1984. on YouTube.Adjacent to the stadium, the Zetra Olympic Hall was constructed as a brand new indoor ice-rink with a seating capacity of roughly 12,000. We take the YUGO for a tour around the Olympic Stadium and make a stop to marvel at the modernist structure of the Zetra Olympic Hall.

Hotel Holiday Inn
This cube-shaped, yellow landmark hotel is surely the most iconic structure built in preparation of the Sarajevo Winter Olympics. It was designed by the accomplished Bosnian-Slovene architect Ivan Štraus as a centerpiece in Sarajevo’s image as a modern Olympic destination. The Holiday Inn had a 714 bed capacity and during the Olympics it was exclusively reserved for international Olympic officials, personnel and media. We stop here and enter the lobby to see a reference to the circuses that took place at this location long before 1984.

Mojmilo Olympic Village
Mojmilo was constructed as the primary Olympic Village with roughly 600 apartments housing the majority of the athletes for the Winter Olympics. Its main architect Milan Medić designed long connected rows of concrete housing towers in four directions around a central square with restaurants, shops, a sports hall, entertainment venues and other facilities. We take a walk here and explore the area for Olympic signs and monuments.

Igman Ski Jump Site
After a 25 km scenic drive in the YUGO we reach the dramatic and abandoned site of Olympic Ski Jumps on the slopes of Mount Igman. This impressive concrete sports venue was designed by the Slovene brothers Gorišek who both were not only architects but also accomplished ski jumpers themselves. We stop here to enjoy the marvelous view over the alpine fields of Malo Polje and if you are a daredevil you can climb 112 meters to the top.

Hotel Igman
This highly geometric and brutalist structure was built for athletes to acclimate and train at high altitudes. Gigantic in size, the Hotel Igman complex featured 512 beds, several restaurants and bars, a nightclub, sauna, TV lounges, an auditorium and much more. Its architect Ahmed Džuvić made heavy use of pine and traditional woodworking both inside and out giving the building a lodge-style warmth and coziness. We visit the abandoned leftovers of this hotel as it was ruined during the Bosnian War in the 1990s.

Trebević Bobsled Track
Nestled amidst the pine forest of Mount Trebević are the remains of the impressive Bobsled Track of the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics This bobsled facility was innovative in design and construction as it could easily be turned into one large 1570m track or three smaller tracks depending on the competition. The track was designed to be not only functional and competitive, but also accessible and engaging for locals and spectators. We stop here for you to walk through the bobsled track.
